Flamboyant Benin LeopardRegular price £155.00
A standing African Benin Leopard made from bronze. Handcrafted with careful attention to detail.
The Benin people of Nigeria believe that the Benin leopard is a symbol of Justice and powerful beast, which has royal qualities. The leopard reigns over the Savannah, like a king does over his subjects.
Made from up-cycled metals, such as pipelines and other parts. Leftover materials are put in an oven with temperatures so high that they melt to create the raw material, which are used again for bronze sculptures. As bronze is a very eco- and labour- intensive material to mine, it makes much more sense to reuse the material that has already been created than to extract it again.
